5 Things I Desperately Needed {But Didn’t Know I Did}

I sent a text to my BFF and told her I was mad at her.

We all have that friend that we depend on to keep us up to date on the things we need; those things we don’t know we need but once we learn about them we wonder how we could ever live without them.

Nell is that friend to me. She is 15 years younger, hipper, trendier, and all the amazing things rolled into a lifelong friend. We’ve been through so much together… but I was still mad at her.

I continued the text:

How am I 51 years old and just finding out about eyelash primer?

She sent laughing emojis and some funny retorts.

I didn’t know I needed eyelash primer, and, boy, was I wrong. I now have amazing full lashes on the daily and will never go back to my 80s black eyeliner look without that primer.

things

That takes me to my list.

5 things I desperately needed (but didn’t know I did):

  1. Eyelash primer
  2. Salt rock deodorant
  3. Makeup remover towel
  4. Under eye patches
  5. Tinkle razor

After smelling for entirely too long, dealing with a baking soda allergy, and enduring too many hormonal changes, I landed on salt rock for deodorant and I will never go back.  Albeit unconventional, it works amazingly and is so much healthier for your body than all the chemicals.

Learning from my go-to Nell, I tried the makeup remover pink towel and it is like a magic eraser for your face. There was a learning curve for me as I initially had a reaction, but smooth sailing after the initial few swipes of the magic towel.

At the same time my eyes were opened about the eyelash primer, I learned of a smoothie for your under eyes with amazing gold patches to soothe those bags and send them packing. With a recent 50-pound weight loss, I was noticing more wrinkles and circles under my eyes, and these patches you lay under your eyes cool and soothe in a way that I so regret not using them sooner. A smoothie for your under eyes? Who would have thought? Simply amazing.

The last and probably my favorite product I didn’t know I needed but LOVE again came from my Nell. She is quite famous and loves to share things that are her jam and shared on Facebook Live about this gem called the Tinkle razer. There are all sorts of microdermabrasion razors on Amazon, so choose one you like. They are cheap and disposable and are a NEED for women. Using these razors on your face allows your makeup to go on smoother and stay on longer, and, no, the hair will NOT grow back thicker or darker. I will forever be a Tinkle user!

I’m sure there are other things that you are so glad you use that you didn’t know you needed… care to share?

Hey local mommas! I grew up in Centerville, but I now live in Wilmington with my husband Tony. Together we have 6 kids, Joe, and his wife Allison, Austin, and his wife Hannah, Sydney and her husband Hayden, Andrew and his wife Lauren and our littles, Max and Eli. Did I mention we are a little nuts starting over with this parenting thing when we are 45+? We are officially adding new titles to our names in 2022- Tiki and Jeep (our version of Grandma and Grandpa). My husband and I are both ministers, and we get to work together in a local church. We were both married before and brought our families together in 2010. After a few years of marriage we felt God's leading for us to adopt. We added Max to our family in 2014 and Eli joined us in 2017, our quiver is officially full! Blending our family has been an adventure! Add some ex-spouses and two birth mommas and we have ourselves a crazy crew! Coffee is my love language. The beach is my happy place and I long to have my toes in the sand. I love being part of the team at Dayton Mom Collective.
