No One Is “Loving” on Us {A Simple Way to Help a New Mom}

I contacted a new mother in our church. She had just had her fourth child, and although she had not told me herself, a family member had told me that they had just given birth to their baby.

I normally wait until contacted by the momma before reaching out to see if I can set up a Meal Train (this is an amazing program) but for some reason this time, I didn’t wait and shot her a message of congrats and how can we help.

Immediately she responded with a “Yes!”

She shared with me that she had just told her husband, “No one is loving on us.” She went on to explain that they hadn’t made it Facebook official and were just trying to keep their heads above water with the other two school-age kids and another in preschool. We made a plan of how I could “rally” the troops and help her out, making me so glad that I had not waited to “love” them.

One quick set-up with the Meal Train (not a sponsored post, but seriously a great tool if you are setting up meals for a new momma), and within 24 hours, the next three weeks of meals were on the books.

We delivered the first of the meals and although not homemade, but delicious with the help of Mr. Bob Evans, the visit and meal drop-off and choice of food were so appreciated by the entire crew.

The weeks that followed were filled with family and friends and church members they had never even met yet dropping off food and goodies for this sweet family.

What a simple act of love. It didn’t have to be fancy or even homemade, but this family felt like people in their life were “loving” them.

It is just that simple.

Hey local mommas! I grew up in Centerville, but I now live in Wilmington with my husband Tony. Together we have 6 kids, Joe, and his wife Allison, Austin, and his wife Hannah, Sydney and her husband Hayden, Andrew and his wife Lauren and our littles, Max and Eli. Did I mention we are a little nuts starting over with this parenting thing when we are 45+? We are officially adding new titles to our names in 2022- Tiki and Jeep (our version of Grandma and Grandpa). My husband and I are both ministers, and we get to work together in a local church. We were both married before and brought our families together in 2010. After a few years of marriage we felt God's leading for us to adopt. We added Max to our family in 2014 and Eli joined us in 2017, our quiver is officially full! Blending our family has been an adventure! Add some ex-spouses and two birth mommas and we have ourselves a crazy crew! Coffee is my love language. The beach is my happy place and I long to have my toes in the sand. I love being part of the team at Dayton Mom Collective.
