DIY Game Night

0

Along the lines of Apples to Apples or Cards Against Humanity, there’s an opportunity to make a DIY customizable game night for your family or group of friends.

The gist of both games is having one card as a prompt and others the possible answers.

Make a set of answers.

This can be a list of inside jokes, TikTok memes, one liners, etc. – the list is as open as you want to make it. If several people make their own sets, even accounting for duplicates, there should be enough to go a couple of rounds.

Decide what prompts to use.

This can be memes, cute animal Google images, or better still, pictures from people’s camera roll; specific and quick to bring smiles and laughter. Printing them out is not necessary. As long as everyone can see the prompt from a device, that’s good enough.

ENJOY!

The rules of the game for Apples to Apples can be found here. The idea is to have fun, so don’t be afraid to house rule for your audience (for instance, non-independent readers).

For example, I chose a prompt as a cute picture of our cat sleeping. Other people then chose possible answers such as, “Do you or do you not feel bonita?” “I’m just a baby!” “If it fits, it sits.”

To keep score you can pick one to win, but it can also be a fun way to spend time together without points.

With a little prep work, a family night of custom fun is on the way!
