Although this blog post is sponsored by our partners, Dayton Dutch Lions, the interview with a local parent was completely authentic! We are so appreciative for the information provided and hope that this will be helpful to other parents as well!

Dayton Dutch LionsWe are so fortunate to live in a city with so many great opportunities and experiences! If you are a sports fan – come watch and play with the Dayton Dutch Lions FC! If you think about it, almost everyone has played soccer at some point in their lives, it’s one of the only sports offered for children as young as 3! This early exposure coupled with the excitement surrounding the World Cup makes the sport so much more appealing in today’s culture! Having the Dayton Dutch Lions gives us all the unique opportunity to see great men’s (USL2) and women’s (WPSL) soccer right in our own backyard!

Dayton Dutch Lions has a Men’s Soccer Team and a Women’s Soccer Team that plays May through July at DOC Stadium at West Carrollton High School. The games are family friendly with very affordable ticket pricing to accommodate families looking for fun! They even offer seasons tickets with special offers, discounts on concessions, special seating and access to exclusive events! For a family season ticket package you’ll see 10 home games (men’s and women’s) for only $120! You’ll also be able to expose your little ones to semi-professional soccer and introduce them to players earlier in their career that may make it to the MLS or even the US National Team!

If you have a soccer lover in your house, Dayton Dutch Lions offers fantastic summer camps as well as private training opportunities highlighting Dutch philosophy in their teaching!

We had the opportunity to speak with local parent, Patrick, who had great things to say about his family’s own experience with Dayton Dutch Lions summer camps

DMC: Patrick, thanks for taking the time to chat with us! First, can I ask how old your children are?

Patrick: Hi Hannah, my daughter Sasha is 11 years old and has been playing club soccer with Oakwood United Since she was 8. Bruno is 9 years old and has been playing club with Oakwood United since he was 7.

DMC: How did you first hear about the Dayton Dutch Lions (DDL)  soccer camps?

Patrick: I received an email from a friend of my mine whose daughter plays for the Miamisburg Southstars club, and our daughters know each other, so we thought it would be fun for them to attend the camp together last summer.

DMC: What do your children love about these camps and what brings you back year after year?

Patrick: They really liked how intimate it seemed, versus some of the larger soccer camps they attended last summer.  By the first day they knew every other kid at the camp.   I think there was under 20 kids at the camp last year, and probably 3-4 coaches, so they received intimate instruction.  They both really liked the coaches, who made it fun along with providing high level instruction and soccer skill development.

DMC: Is there anything else you’d like to add to let parents know what they can expect if they enroll their child in a DDL soccer camp?

Patrick: Last year, it was crazy hot! So, make sure you prepare for possible jungle like weather.   The whole coaching staff and especially Jerd were so communicative, he was constantly updating the parents on what was going on that day.

DMC: Thank you so much for sharing more about your experience with Dayton Dutch Lions, Patrick!
