Remember to Love Yourself

0

The calendar flips to February and store shelves are filled with roses and chocolate candy. It’s easy to get swept up in the moment of Valentine’s Day. Remember to book a sitter and enjoy a kid-free evening with your partner, but it’s also important to remember to love yourself. Love yourself as an amazing wife and mother, but also remember to love yourself as an amazing person.

Take Time for You

Decide what makes you happy; what brings you joy and relaxation? Maybe it’s a few hours getting pampered at the salon. Maybe it’s an escape to the coffee shop and some time to sip a drink while it’s still warm. Whatever it is, find the time to do it. Take the time to enjoy the moment and recharge.

Embrace the Imperfections

Remind yourself that your imperfections are not flaws but they are reminders of your greatness. Your children aren’t focused on the imperfections but are instead wrapped in your love. Your “mom pooch” makes a great pillow for morning snuggles. Your stretch marks remind them of brave tiger stripes; Mommy must be brave, too. Children don’t see the mismatched sweatshirt and leggings and messy bun; they see a blank canvas to play pretend hair salon.

Pause and Enjoy

Hit the pause button. Take a step back and enjoy the moment. You are coming off the magical high of the holiday season, but then things go back to the mundane of work, school, schedules and busy lives. Take a moment and enjoy the small moments of being together, having solid family time and making memories.

As you indulge in those last pieces of chocolate in the heart-shaped box, remind yourself: I am amazing. I am wonderful. I am capable of anything. I am an amazing partner, mother and human being.
