october 2023 events around daytonHappy Fall, ya’ll! This is my favorite season, and it’s October 2023 – my favorite month. I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it! Join with me in my pumpkin fun this month, and please let me know about your events in the comments, so we can all go check those out, too.


1) Lucas Brothers Fall Fest

3229 Ferry Rd, Bellbrook, OH 45305

This one is definitely a favorite. There’s so much to do and the kiddos get to bring home a small pumpkin. This is happening now until Oct. 29.

2) Hallofunaweenie

Sunday October 29 at 4pm

Be Hope Church–Beavercreek campus

Hallofunaweenie is back for another year! This amazing, annual, community event is one of the largest in the area. Kids of all ages are invited to experience all the fun, grab tons of candy, wear their costumes, enjoy a hayride, snap some memory-making photos, and have a blast at Be Hope Church – Beavercreek on October 29th from 4-6pm. Free and open to everyone! And hey, invite a friend!

3) Halloween Hop and Howl

Forest Field Park

Thursday October 5 from 4pm-6pm

Put on your Halloween best and join us for a festive stroll for preschoolers and their families around Forest Field Park. Themed signs will be placed along the path to get kids moving and grooving as they collect goodies at various stations. Families are encouraged to come in costume and enjoy the Halloween spirit. The first 100 participants will receive tickets for free Kona Ice, sponsored by Tammy Zell of the Sasser Group/KW Advisors Realty! Kona Ice is weather dependent. This is a “teal pumpkin” event — all treats will be allergy-friendly. Please bring your own bag to collect treats! This event is in partnership with the South Metro Optimist Club of Centerville. Registration is not required.

4) Rocket Day at the National Museum of the US Air Force

Saturday October 7 10am-3pm
Join us for an out of this world day of excitement at the museum (and did we mention it is FREE?)! Kids will be able to build their own model rocket, launch it on the museum lawn (weather permitting) with the help from Wright Stuff Rocketeers*, see a real lunar rover brought by the Armstrong Air and Space Museum* and more! 5) Third Annual FBK Fall Festival and Cruise-In

First Baptist Kettering
Sunday October 8 from 4pm-7pm
This free community event will include a Cruise-In for cars, trucks & motorcycles, Hayrides, Pumpkin Picking, Inflatables, Fall Games, and More. Food Trucks will be present for this event with their own menus and pricing. This is a fun community event for the whole family! Event parking is free and will be hosted onsite. Pumpkins are first come first serve for 18 and under.

6) Haunted Hotdog Roast

Tuesday October 10 at 6pm
Springboro Area Historical Society
Join us for our 31st annual family-friendly Haunted Hotdog Roast sponsored, as always, by Discount Drug Mart. Start off your night by trick or treating with your kids through the Historic Business District. The museum will open at 6 with hotdogs, chips, drinks and roasted marshmallows in the backyard. Family-friendly tours through the Historic Springboro Business District start at dusk (you may even meet some friendly ghosts along the way.) We will have hotdogs, chips and candy, music (provided by the Springboro Chamber,) story time from the Franklin-Springboro Public Library, Dayton Ghost Hunters and some good old fashioned fun for the family! While there may be a few mild scares, Mosquito Joe of Miami Valley will make sure we don’t have any little vampires flying around! {Trick or Treat is free of charge and sponsored by businesses in Historic Springboro.}
Tickets: $7 on eventbrite or $10 cash at the door
Children 2 and under are free.

7) The Great Pumpkin Patch

Russ Nature Reserve
Wednesday October 11 from 5:30pm-7:30pm
Did you enjoy growing up with Highlights Seek and Find puzzles? What if you and your kids could be part of a hide and seek game, with the Russ Nature Reserve being your puzzle board? Hundreds of pumpkins will be hidden along the trails at the Russ Nature Reserve and your child, age 2-9, will have to search and find pumpkins that match images on the cards we provide. Each child will be given a card with 10 different objects to find, painted on the pumpkins. Once they find them, cross them off and keep looking. When all 10 are found, return to the tent for some fun money that is good to spend at our candy store and in our pumpkin patch. Children are encouraged to come in costume!

8) Southminster Presbyterian Church Pumpkin Festival

Saturday October 14 from 10am-3pm

Second annual Pumpkin Festival. Join us for games, music, food, pumpkin painting for all!

9) Community Fall Fest 2023

Mall at Fairfield Commons
Saturday October 21 at 11am
This event will feature many community non-profit organizations as well as local vendors offering a cornucopia of Fall fun for the entire family. Enjoy a taste of the harvest with Fall foods, along with games face painting, axe throwing, bounce house, and much more. Come out and have a blast while supporting your local community! Registration required.

10) Fall Family Adventure

Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark
1301 E Siebenthaler Ave, Dayton
Saturday October 21 4pm-7pm
Come to the park for a FREE magical fall adventure! Learn how animals and plants change in the fall while you enjoy games, crafts, face painting and a yummy marshmallow roast. Explore the prairie and then hear wonderful tales from a storyteller. You’ll enjoy live music, a magician, meet Animal Ambassadors, learn the secrets of spiders and stroll through the beautiful gardens. Refreshments provided. Registration is requested; walk ins are welcome.

11) Rock the Rec Halloween Party

Vandalia Recreation Center
Saturday October 28 at 12pm
Come out and have a spooky good time at the Rock the Rec Halloween Party! This Halloween-themed community event will have food trucks, hayrides, cider garden, Trick-or-Treat, live music, inflatables, mobile axe throwing, kid’s activities, Halloween costume judging, many craft vendors and more!
Ages: All ages welcome
Fee: Free to attend
Location: Vandalia Sports Complex; near the Baseball Concession Stands

12) Halloween in the Park

Saturday October 28 3pm-6pm

A new twist on an old tradition and fun for the whole family! Come and walk the “Trail of Tricks and Treats”; local groups and businesses will have activity booths for you to discover on the winding trail through the Gooding Addition. The first 200 kids will receive a ticket to the pumpkin patch where they can search for the perfect pumpkin to decorate at our decorating station on the patio. Come inside to listen to spooky tales read by a special guest. Enjoy complimentary games, crafts, witch’s brew and fall family fun!
