School’s out for SUMMER! The kids are home, and entertaining them may seem like a full-time job. But don’t worry – the Dayton area has got you covered with a plethora of awesome options to enjoy this summer.

1. The Zoo

We live a short drive from two awesome zoos -Cincinnati and Columbus. The Cicinnati Zoo has different events throughout the summer, such as breakfast with the animals, a Father’s Day special, and Sundae Fundae with everyone’s favorite hippo, Fiona.

2. Newport Aquarium

Maybe you love seeing animals but want to escape the heat. Newport Aquarium has everything from fish to penguins. Right now through the end of May, they have mermaids swimming in tanks. All summer long is shark summer!

3. Dayton Dragons Baseball Game

The Dayton Dragons games are always fun for all ages. Grab the family and a hot dog, and don’t you dare forget the Dippin’ Dots in a Dayton Dragons souvenir helmet.

4. Cox Arboretum

This location is sure to wow you! There are 174 acres to explore and you can see everything from fish and turtles to birds and butterflies. Don’t forget to hike up the 81-step watch tower to get some views. Also, for all you pet parents, you can bring along your furry child.

5. Aullwood Audubon

This beautiful space helps teach people to preserve and love nature. They have hiking trails, a nature center, and a farm discovery center. There is something for everyone to enjoy. Also, do not forget to check out the giant troll display.

6. Splash Pads

Cool off in one of the area’s many splash pads. Pack a picnic-style lunch and some snacks. Once the kids are done with the water, they can zoom on over to the park side and keep playing. This is a great free activity.

7. Kings Island

Kids and adults alike love the thrill of amusement parks. There are plenty of rides, games and food. Also, on those hot days, you can walk over to the water park.

8. Boonshoft Museum of Discovery

They have everything from history to animals. Also, you do not have to worry about telling your kids to stop touching things because almost everything there is interactive and meant to be explored. While you are there, you can refuel at their cafe.
