November is here! November is here! This is absolutely my favorite time of year! Bonfires, crisp nights & mornings, reflection on the year…THANKSGIVING! The Dayton Dozen will focus on all those being thankful & Thanksgiving-ish events in the month of November!
1.Helping Hands of Dayton Charity Auction – Vandalia
***DMB Tip – This is actually an adults only event – but the cause is so critically important to families with sick kids – we left it on the list.
- 11/3/2016
- Helping Hands provides CARE KITS to families with Children in critical care at local hospitals – so that they can focus their energy and attention where it is needed most – on their child’s recovery.
- Fun filled auction event with great raffle prizes – earn extra tickets for bring travel sized toiletries
2. MNRA 41st Annual Dayton Train Show – Springfield
***DMB Tip – Bring the stroller – this is a large indoor event.
- 11/5 – 11/6
- Kids love trains – this is one of the largest train shows in the midwest- with vendors, train displays and everything for the train lover in your family.
3. We Care Arts Open House – Kettering
***DMB Tip – Do you have extra art supplies that are cluttering your house? Bring them as a donation – We Care Arts is always in need of donations to make their programs work.
- 11/5/2016
- For a $5 donation kids of all ages can make 3 different ornaments and gifts of their choice – all types of craft supplies will be furnished, and ideas and help are available from their friendly “elves”.
4. Family Farm Hand at Possum Creek Metro Park – Dayton
***DMB Tip – Registration is limited – but space is still available – go if your kids want in -resister NOW!
- 11/5 or 11/12 or
- Become a farmhand for the morning and help feed and care for the rabbits, chickens sheep, goats and donkey.
5. Furry Film Night – SICSA – Kettering
***DMB Tip – Did you know that SICSA also does birthday parties – your kids and their friends get to cuddle with cats & puppies. To keep with the theme – they also eat their cake out of dog bowls!
- 11/11/2016 5-8pm
- Kids ages 6-12 can spend the evening eating pizza, cuddling a cat or dog & watching a movie – all for a good cause.
6. Dayton Art Institute Super Saturday Family Day – Dayton
***DMB Tip – Eat st the onsite Leo Bistro before or after – in conjunction with Super Saturday Family Days, kids (ages 12 & under) get 50% off Leo Cub meals.

- Sublime Terrariums is the project this month – a family of 4 can participate for only $15 – you’ll get to make memories & a project to take home!
7. Cosmic Bowling to Support Hospice of Dayton – Kettering
***DMB Tip – Cosmic Bowling is even more fun if you dress the family in clothing that will glow under a black light – think neon!

8. Star Wars Laser Tag – Scene 75
***DMB Tip – Bring socks – Scene 75 has some awesome bounce houses that the kids will want to try after laser tag.

- Face off against Star Wars heroes and villains – Star Wars characters from the 501st Legion will be split up onto two teams for each game so that guests will have a chance to play with and against them.
9. 2016 Shoes 4 the Shoeless Walk 4 Kids – Miamisburg <Dayton Mall>
***DMB Tip – Dig up the ugliest socks you & the kids can find – you might win a prize!

- Getting kids involved in charity at a young age is not always easy – but this family friendly indoor walk is a great 1st step – you & the kids will raise money to provide shoes for the more than 10,000 children in the Dayton area who are in desperate need of them.
- Registration is at 8am & the walk begins at 9
10. Tails on the Trail – Glen Helen Nature Preserve – Yellow Springs
***DMB Tip – After your walk – stop in Mr. Fub’s Party – a VERY fun toy store in Yellow Springs

- Enjoy the natural beauty of the Glen as you get your “dog fix” by sharing a trail adventure with adoptable pups from Paw Patrol! You can bring your dog or take one of the adoptable dogs from Paw Patrol on a walk in the Glen
11. 38th Annual Miamisburg Turkey Trot – Miamisburg
***DMB Tip – Register early – they are giving out hoodies this year & they look really cool – adult & youth sizes!

- Before you pile on the turkey & fixins – bring the family and either compete in the 5k or join the 1-mile fun run/walk.
12. Learn to Ice Skate – Riverscape Metro Park – Downtown
***DMB Tip – One of the coolest ice rinks around – outside covered right along the river – dress for the cold!
