august 2021It’s already August, and the Summer has been flying by, but it isn’t over yet! Check out these upcoming events in August, and have some Summer fun before it all ends.

1) August 2st-7th: Greene County Fair

120 Fairground Rd, Xenia OH 45385. Come to the Greene County Fair for animals, food, rides and fun. This is personally one of my favorites fairs because it is smaller, paved and has flushing toilets (a huge perk for littles who hate Porto potties!!!)

2) August 3rd: Mystery Night out with Centerville PD

6-8:30 p.m. at Stubbs Park Amphitheater. 255 W Spring Valley Pike, Centerville OH. The pandemic made fitness harder to achieve. This year the mystery challenge is “Find the Fit Ewe.” Participants will receive and solve clues via their smartphones from a link that will be sent out as the event begins. Each solved clause will take you to a location in the Centerville area. Each person who completes the challenge will receive a free tee-shirt while supplies last. Fun for the entire family!

3) August 7th: Vintage Truck Show at Young’s Dairy

6880 Springfield-Xenia Rd, Yellow Springs OH 45387. From 9-4 come and see over 100 vintage trucks from all over the country. After walk through the barns, play a game of putt putt or grab an ice cream cone to go!

4) August 7th: Hidden Valley Orchard Corn Crazy Festival

10-3 at Hidden Valley Orchard. 5474 North OH-48, Lebanon OH 45036. The orchard is going corn crazy. Fresh local corn to purchase, corn dogs, live music and a bounce house to boot! You can walk the property looking for Owls, visit the waterfall or play in the grassy yard!

5) August 8th: Beavercreek Summer Concert

7 p.m. at 640 Gagne Hall Rd, Beavercreek OH. Come and listen to a free concern with JR Eib Trio. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, then sit back and relax while the kids dance along with the music.

6) August 11th: Family Night Out-Creek Walk

6-8 p.m. at Caesar Ford Park. 520 S Stringtown Rd, Xenia OH 45385. Splash, wade, and stomp through the creek. Includes a campfire and s’mores (while supplies last!) This free event is sure to bring laughs and memories.

7) August 13-14th: Heritage Village Museum-Free Days

10-5 at 11500 Lebanon Rd, Sharonville OH 45241. Experience the 19th Centruy by touring buildings from that area. Sure to be fun and educational.

8) August 13-15th: St. Brigid Festival

6 pm on the 13th till 4 p.m on the 15th at 312 Fairgrounds Rd, Xenia OH. Annual 3 day festival. Includes rides, food from around the world, adult games, bingo, live music Friday and a beer garden.

9) August 21st: SunWatch Family Day

SunWatch Indian Village. 2301 W River Rd, Dayton OH. Learn about the crops that Ohio’s first farms grew and how they were stored. No advanced registration is needed for this event!

10) August 21st: BrickUniverse Dayton Lego Convention

$15 online ages 2 and up

A fun family-friendly event with tons of LEGO creations, building zones, speakers and more. Small creations and large scale creations will be there to observe. You can spend time with master lego builders and learn their skill. This event is for Lego Lovers of all ages.

11) August 28th: Inaugural Orchid Festival-Kettering

9-7. Emmanuel Lutheran Church. 4865 Wilmington Pike, Kettering OH. Come and see hundreds of orchids on display. Some will be available for purchase. Vendors will be coming from across the US and Thailand to show off the beautiful variety of orchids they have to offer.

12) All Month: RiverScape Bike Rentals (Dayton)

9-6 on Saturdays and Sundays. $8 per hour rental fee for a variety of bikes and child attachments. Follow the beautiful bikeway and take in the sites that Dayton has to offer.
