Snow is finally here in the Miami Valley and there are a variety of activities that your kids can enjoy during a snow day.
Ice Painting
Fill balloons with water and set them outside to freeze. Rip the latex off and you will be left with round ice balls. The kids can use liquid watercolor paints to paint the ice and make them look like giant marbles.
Ice Cream
Who doesn’t love ice cream – and what is more fun than making it yourself? All you need is some fresh snow, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla. Mix it all together and let freeze (outside or inside) and enjoy!
Sledding
There are a wide variety of places in the area to go sledding. Grab all your winter apparel and head over to the Kettering Recreation Complex, Triangle Park, or a community golf course. You will find kids and adults of all ages riding down the hills.
Volcanoes
Put a tablespoon or two of baking soda into individual plastic containers (preferably taller ones) add food coloring to each one, pour in a mixture of vinegar – take the containers out and pack snow around them and then pour in a mixture of vinegar and dish soap (this will be mixed prior). Watch as different colors come out of the snow.
Snow Art
Fill some spray bottles with water and add food coloring to each bottle. Let your kids go outside and start spraying away at the snow – they will love this mess free activity.
The best part is that all of these are outdoor activities, so no mess inside! Drop some of your favorite snow day activities in the comments.
