Thank You Letter to My Daughter {International Thank You Day}

0

As we enter the calm after a busy holiday season, a lesser know holiday could be included on the calendar. Everyone thinks of showing gratitude and thanks in November with the celebration of Thanksgiving. Yet, on Jan. 11, it’s International Thank You Day, which I think is great; why not start the year off thinking about gratitude instead of waiting until the end of the year?

When I became a mom (and honestly even before), I dreamed of the days when I would feel this sense of accomplishment because I taught my daughter her first word, a new color or the sound the letter B makes. I knew I would remember the days I taught her how to spell her name, how to read and the day she learns to drive a car.

What I didn’t anticipate? All of the things she would teach me!

thank you
thank you

And those teaching moments I am forever thankful for and will always remember.

Sweet girl, thank you for teaching me patience and grace.
Thank you for teaching me unconditional love that I didn’t know was possible.
Thank you for teaching me to let things go.
Thank you for teaching me to be flexible.
Thank you for teaching me that some days don’t go as planned (and that’s okay).
Thank you for teaching me how to laugh at myself.
Thank you for teaching me to enjoy the simple things.
Thank you for teaching me to slow down and enjoy the moment:

Watching you giggle and experience absolute delight over something as simple as a knock-knock joke. Listening to you tell me about how much fun you had getting to help me make cookies. Creating special memories with you as you hold my hand while we walk through the park.

Thank you for showing me that motherhood is the best and hardest job I will ever experience. Thank you for being the best and most unexpected teacher I will ever know. Thank you for calling me Mom and letting me learn from you in the most amazing ways.
